The Somali Regional Executive Committee has approved the use of month names prepared in the Somali language.

The Executive Committee of the Somali Region discussed today the studies conducted by the various regional and other experts on Somali month names.

During the discussion, the experts presented a research paper showing the research done on day, month and year in Somali language.

The executive committee appreciated the names of the months prepared in the Somali language and said that this is important to promote and protect the Somali language.

According to the information we received from the regional media, the committee encouraged the activities of the Regional Education Bureau, which controls the education system and educational institutions in the region, to promote Somali language education.

Accordingly, the executive committee has passed a decision to use the following Somali language month names from today.

1. Kodhin/September

2. October

3. Gudba / November

4. Horay / December

5. Derbeley / January

6. February

7. Ur /march/march

8. Dugato/miyazia/april

9. May

10. Agali/ June

11. Afgal/ July

12. Nef/August
