Agreement signed to purchase electricity cables worth over $66 million
Addis Ababa, February 4, 2017 (FMC) The Ethiopian Electric Power Company announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase electricity cables worth over $66 million.
The cable purchase agreement was signed with a Chinese company, TBA Diyang Cable, and according to the agreement, the cable supply will be completed and delivered within nine months.
The cable purchase was made primarily to accommodate the demand for new power in rural and urban areas and to carry out the development of electricity infrastructure.
The agreement was signed by Shiferaw Telila (E/R), CEO of the Ethiopian Electric Power Company, who signed the agreement, said that the agreement is particularly beneficial in achieving the plan to benefit new power-demanding customers across the country.
Gilbert Zao, who signed the agreement on behalf of TBA Diang Cable Company, said that he was happy to have the opportunity to work with the service and that he would keep his word.
The cable purchase agreement will cost 66 million 123 thousand 842 US dollars and 37 million 233 thousand 62 birr, and the cost will be covered by a loan from the World Bank.
