Adanech Abebe, the mayor of Addis Ababa, said that a large budget is being allocated to address the city's water supply shortage. 

 

The mayor discussed with CGCOC Group officials in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Chei Hai, on how to start the construction of the Gerbi drinking water dam project. 

 

Gerbi drinking water dam project is planned to be built in 2008 with support from Exim Bank; It has been pointed out that the city administration has decided to build on its own budget due to the delay in the work due to the non-disbursement of the loan.  

 

In order to match the water demand and supply in the city, the city administration has reached an agreement with the Chinese Embassy and the contractor CGCOC Group to build the dam on its own budget. 

 

Mayor Adanech Abebe posted on her social media page that the water demand and supply gap of the city will be solved when the construction of the dam is completed.
