Ethio Telecom announced that within two months, its ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station has provided power to over 14,000 electric vehicles. This is equivalent to planting 2,622 trees, according to global environmental science standards.

 

The company made this statement today while inaugurating a new charging station capable of charging 16 vehicles simultaneously. The second ultra-fast EV charging station, built by Ethio Telecom, is located along the road from Megenagna to Bole, on the right side in front of Anbessa Garage.

 

The company’s CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, stated that Ethio Telecom is working diligently to support this service with technology, particularly to save the significant foreign currency spent on fuel and to offer the service to the public at a highly affordable price.

 

The second ultra-fast EV charging station is open to customers 24/7 starting today. As the adoption of electric vehicles grows in Ethiopia, the operational EV charging station strongly supports efforts to meet the increasing demand for fast and efficient charging solutions.

 

Previously, Ethio Telecom built and operationalized a charging station along the main road from Bole to Megenagna, capable of accommodating 16 vehicles at once. This station has served 14,280 electric vehicles, utilizing 376,574.72 kilowatts of electric power. As a result, 521,074.23 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions were prevented from being released into the atmosphere, as explained by the CEO.
