But they stated that they were not taken to the hospital after the surgery.
"They ran out of painkillers because they were taking it too fast to relieve the pain," his family members said to the BBC.
A member of Mr. John's family; "Yesterday, when we went with sedatives, we were told that you cannot enter. Why? They said that they are going to change. But until yesterday, they told us that they would not go. Yesterday, they suddenly got up and were about to leave, so they stopped us, saying that you cannot bring in any food or medicine."
Mr. Christian's family member also said, "Yesterday, when we went with food and medicine, we returned because there was no one to let us in."
The Federal Prison Commission last week, Monday, December 7, 2017. In his statement: "He announced that he would transfer prisoners from Kaliti Prison to a prison commonly known as Aba Samuel located near Gelan.
Following this, he pointed out that "the services provided by Addis Ababa's Kaliti Correctional Center to the families of prisoners and office work will be suspended from December 8 to 13, 2017."
In the same statement, the commission said that the service, which had been interrupted since Tuesday last week, will resume from today, December 14.
But the families of Mr. Christian and Mr. Yohannes told the BBC that they were still unable to bring in food and question the prisoners.
The BBC was unable to include his comments due to the repeated phone calls he made to the Public Relations Executive of the Federal Prison Commission, Mr. Geremwe Ayaleu, regarding the matter.
The prosecutor filed charges against Yohannes Bouyaleou and Christian Tadele in March of last year. In addition to two council members, 50 other individuals and politicians are also included in the case file named after Mr. Yohannes Buayalew.
