 The interim administration of the Tigray region issued a statement in support of the peaceful demonstration that the evacuees started on January 5, 2017 with the slogan "Enough, bring us back to our village!" 

The interim administration said in its statement that the peaceful protest called by the evacuees under the slogan "Enough is enough, return to our village" is enthusiastic and supported. 

"The suffering of the displaced people has not been given a proper response," the statement said, "The federal government should implement the contract and promise and the displaced people should return to their homes."

"Still, according to the Pretoria Peace Agreement, the militants outside of national defense should leave," he added.

"Within the framework of the constitution, the territorial unity of Tigray should be respected and the displaced people should return to their homes," he said.

"The African Union, the American government, the European Union and the international community should listen to the voice of the people and put pressure on the Pretoria Agreement to be properly implemented," he said.

It has been announced that the peaceful demonstration of displaced persons, which started by blocking the road in Mekelle Romanat Square today, which was coordinated by a non-governmental association called "Tsalal Civic Association West Tigray" and with the slogan "Enough!", will continue until January 7/2017.

Many Mekelle streets were closed today and many police officers were deployed.
