The university-industry relationship, which has been in place for years, is said to still have various problems.

It is said that there are industries that accompany students sent for practical training just to say that they have arrived.

Others have been criticized for preventing students from coming to work, saying that they will damage our expensive machines.

However, we have heard that a fundamental change will be made in the process.

It has been said that the program in which universities send their students to industries for practical training still has various problems.

When universities send their students to institutions for practical training, they are criticized for not preparing them adequately for the skills they need to acquire, but for fulfilling the program.

Industries are also criticized for having gaps in monitoring and properly managing the students they send for practical training.

Engineer Getnet Belayem, the coordinator of the University-Industry Networking Group under the Ministry of Industry, also reinforces this idea.

He said that most industries are doing nothing more than accepting students who have been assigned to them by letter and signing them every day.

However, starting next year, Engineer Getnet told us that the process will change.

He said that one of the changes is that the students’ competency assessment, which was mostly done by universities, will be conducted by industries.

He mentioned that more than seventy percent of the students’ assessment will be done by industries.

It has been said that industries are also preventing students sent for practical training from coming to work for fear that they will damage or break the machines.

Engineer Getnet, who said that they have stepped in to protect them because it was their responsibility to replace the expensive machines, said that from now on, this will not be their only headache.

In addition to universities, technical and vocational institutions are also working to connect their students to industries for practical training.
