Addis Ababa, the organizer of the Adwa Award, Solomon Geleta, was charged with corruption for causing more than half a million birr to Ethio Telecom by using a fake document.
The case was established by the 4th Division of Corruption Cases of the Federal High Court.
The Prosecutor of the Ministry of Justice's Directorate of Corruption has filed a serious corruption case against the accused for violating the provisions of Article 23 Sub-Number 2 and 3 of the Proclamation No. 881/2007 of the Criminal Law for the Prevention and Control of Corruption.
As indicated in this case, the defendant, on February 28, 2015, at about 8:00 a.m., at the Ethio Telecom sales center in Kirkos K/K District 10 Stadium, from Kolfe Karanyo K/K District 4 Vital Event Branch Office and a fake ID from Commercial Bank Finfine. It is mentioned in the indictment that a fake Abel Chala, who has not been given a branch, has received 167 thousand 750 birr into Ethio Telecom's account under the name of importer and exporter.
Second, on March 17, 2015 at around 10:00 a.m., at the Ethio Telecom sales center in Arada, Churchill Street, using a fake residence ID, he transferred 279,460 Birr to Ethio Telecom from an account opened in the name of MMDA Trading at the Finfine branch of the Commercial Bank. It was mentioned that he was presented with a fake income receipt stating that he has earned income.
He was charged with the serious crime of corruption by using fake documents, taking 2 Samsung Galaxy mobile phones and causing a loss of more than half a million birr to Ethio Telecom.
The accused appeared in today's hearing and was given the details of the case, and he has been scheduled for tomorrow to consult with a lawyer.
