The city administration has stated that the regulation requiring service providers to operate until 4:00 PM will be fully enforced once detailed implementation guidelines are issued.
The regulation, which mandates that shops and other commercial service providers in areas of the city where corridor development has taken place either keep their doors open until evening or display a sign indicating they are still providing services if their doors are closed, was said to have gone into effect starting March 10, 2025.
During a discussion held today between the city administration and the business community regarding the regulation’s implementation, numerous complaints were raised by the traders. They expressed concerns such as: “When we leave at 4:00 PM, our workplaces and residences are far apart, posing security risks; if we close our shops due to reasons beyond our control, or if the power suddenly goes out, we shouldn’t be penalized just because the regulation states doors must remain open and lights must stay on.”
In response, Mr. Jantirar Abay, the deputy mayor leading the discussion, said, “We understand your concerns. The regulation will only be fully implemented once detailed enforcement guidelines are provided.”
