He said that Ethiopia and the United Nations will work together in fields of mutual interest

Ethiopia and the United Nations announced that they will work with determination to create a strong partnership in areas of mutual interest. 

Finance Minister Ahmed Shide discussed with United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed on how to speed up the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the national level. 

He also advised on the macroeconomic reforms that Ethiopia is implementing, Ethiopia is making preparations for the International Development Finance Summit to be held in 2025.

It was also raised that there is a need to establish a clear hierarchy of responsibilities to support Ethiopia's development agenda by strengthening the partnership between the United Nations Ethiopian Group (UNCT) and the African Economic Commission.

The Minister of Finance briefed the Deputy Secretary General about the strategies that Ethiopia has planned to improve the performance of its development goals. He said that for the achievement of the goals, strong cooperation and increasing the amount of finance needed for the implementation should be done.

The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations expressed his appreciation for the tireless efforts that are being made to achieve regional and global development goals.

ESA reported that the two sides said that it is important for the various institutions and organizations of the Ethiopian government and the United Nations to align the goals of sustainable development with the country's priorities.

The Minister stated that Ethiopia is committed to further strengthening its partnership with the United Nations and to fulfill its role in the achievement of African development goals on the world stage.
