The Ministry of Health and Ethio Telecom agreed to modernize the health sector digitally

Health Minister Dr. Makdes Daba held a wide-ranging discussion with a delegation led by Ethio Telecom's CEO Frehivat Tamru on the issues on which the two institutions can work together. 

The Minister of Health, Dr. Makdes Daba, explained that digital health has been given attention by the Ministry of Health and included in the health policy; He thanked Ethio Telecom for the digital services it is providing to the health sector. 

Using telecom and digital infrastructure, it has been possible to deliver health education and accurate health information to the public through social media, said Dr. Makdes. He said that the Ministry of Health is working to ensure that telehealth services are supported by policy and managed legally. 

He added that work is being done to make service payments in health institutions via Telebur. 

For his part, Ethio Telecom's chief executive Frehivat Tamru said; Ethio Telecom by updating the operation of health institutions with digital technologies; He emphasized that he will focus on improving the quality of services for health institutions. 

He explained that Ethio Telecom has identified technological options for expansion of network and digital infrastructure based on the needs of health institutions.   

According to the information of the Ministry, the Ministry of Health and Ethio Telecom consulted widely on the issues that they can work in partnership in the future and reached a mutual agreement.
