Three mothers gave birth to triplets of twins at the same time on the same day at the RCI Kersa Specialized Hospital.
Two mothers who came to the hospital for delivery at the same time on the same day at the Kersa Specialized Hospital in Munisa Woreda, RCI Zone, delivered three babies, a total of six, safely through surgery, he said, adding that the incident is the first in the history of the hospital.
The hospital’s Maternal Pregnancy Monitoring and Surgery Specialist, Dr. Jamal Markos, confirmed that three mothers who came to the hospital for delivery on the evening of January 7/2018, delivered three babies safely through surgery.
The first mother, Mrs. Amano, a resident of Arsi Munesa Woreda Gure Kebele, was brought to the hospital by ambulance for delivery and delivered a total of three babies, a male and a female, safely. On the same day and time, Mrs. Snetaehu Meta, a resident of Arsi Kersa City 02 Kebele, who went to give birth, delivered triplets of female babies safely.
Dr. Jamal Markos, who delivered six babies from four women and a male mother on the same day and time, said that the incident surprised them and that they were very happy to deliver six twins without any complications on the same day and time.
Dr. Tiba Waryo, Medical Director of the Arsi Kersa Specialized Hospital, said that the birth was a surprise as it was the first time in the hospital’s history and that it happened at the same time on the same day.
All six twins and their mothers are in good health and the mothers have no history of twin births before.
