The Ministry of Education announced that the highest score recorded in the Grade 12 national exam in 2017 was 591 in Natural Sciences.

888 students from Addis Ababa, 794 students from Oromia, and 385 students from the Amhara region scored more than 500.
In the 2017 academic year, 585,000 students took the Grade 12 national exam, and 8.4 percent of students scored 50 percent or above.

The average score of this year's examinees was recorded at 31.6 percent.
Boarding schools passed 87 percent of their students, while community schools passed 86 percent.
Government schools passed 5.6 percent of their students.
This year, 50 schools passed all their students, while 1,249 schools did not pass any students this year.
This year's results are said to be better than previous years due to increased parental supervision and training for teachers.
This year's Grade 12 examinees were students who were in Grade 9 when the new examination began.

He also explained that he expects the student pass rate to increase in the future.
The results of the exam are expected to be released by tomorrow afternoon.
