The focus on ensuring the quality of education should continue to be strengthened, said Negeri Lencho (PhD), the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Employment and Technology Affairs of the House of People's Representatives. 

The Educational Assessment and Testing Service has held an annual conference to discuss educational research and findings, educational assessment experiences and technology options. 

On this occasion, Negeri Lencho (PhD), the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Employment and Technology Affairs of the House of People's Representatives, said that education is a vital tool for ensuring economic and social prosperity.

He recalled that various steps have been taken to repair the educational gaps in the country during the past years of change. 

Among the measures taken, they mentioned the reform of the general education and training policy, the improvement of the standard of schools, the capacity building of teachers and education management, and the provision of student nutrition.

State Minister of Education Ayelech Eshete, for her part, stated that efforts are currently being made to ensure the quality of education.

She also announced that work has been done to identify universities by mission and establish a self-governance system. 

She said that this has enabled equitable access to quality education nationwide. 

The Education Assessment and Testing Service signed an agreement with Bahir Dar, Mekele, Jimma and Kotebe Universities of Education on the sidelines of the conference, EZA reported.
