"Imr...Imr" Christmas play in Sodo Kstane Beth Gurage

#Ethiopia Christmas is one of the festivals (after the cross) that has its own bright appearance in Gurgaon. Christmas in Sodo Kstane Beth Gurage has a local traditional performance. 

Until the day arrives, men not only prepare their Christmas tree, but also do their wood carving work very well. The women also prepare chicken-eye-like rice, buttered corn, and crusty bread. 

On the morning of Christmas, the girls in their dresses say "Egoste" (which means friend/fellow grown up) and gather together with drums, hats and corn. They also have a strict conversation with the shining sun. "Christmas Eve" is a hit. 

After finishing their longing greetings and preparations, they turn to the east and sit in a row with their legs stretched out. If they can, they will take as many sieves as possible. If they can't, she will be older. 

The next task is to count to 12 while looking at the sun through the hole in the sky and saying "Imr imr #at...imr imr #kit". This is reminiscent of the "Magi" who came from the east, led by a star, with gold, myrrh and frankincense in their hands when Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. 

After the girls have done this, they put the corn, the hat, and the bread under the sieve:

    "Imr imr bog bell... imr bog bell

    Yedakogna Ebur Tek Bel''... they play.

At the same time, the boys who were playing in a wide field (Angat) also raise their Christmas sticks and come to the village dancing the game called ``Enzorite''. The operation can also be called a sport.

The dance they perform is another highlight of the festival. Our Lord Jesus Christ chose and re-created her from his mother, the Virgin Mary. 

In Sodo Kstane-Begurage, women, especially if there is a mother who has recently given birth to a boy, offer dough bread to the young people during this Christmas festival. Abaworas, according to their ability (whatever they have, what they have and what they don't have, with baskets of meat), dress the house and go to the church to carry the ark. There they all gather. The dancing horse is excited.
