Encouraging results are being recorded in the economic, social and political sectors in the region: Head of State Negash Wagesho (E/R)

The Southwestern Ethiopian People's Regional State is recording encouraging results in the economic, social and political sectors due to the activities carried out in accordance with national policies and strategies, the regional head of state Negash Wagesho (E/R) has said.

The regular session of the Southwestern Ethiopian People's Regional State Council is underway. 

The regional state's 2017 budget half-year performance report was presented by Head of State Negash Wagesho (E/R). 

The report noted that over 17 million quintals of agricultural development activities were achieved in the past six months, and 145,909 quintals of soil fertilizer were distributed to farmers.

It was also noted that 11,020 workers are registered and learning in the region with a population of 5 million. 

It was also noted that 4.5 billion birr was collected from regular and administrative revenue in the first half of the year, against the target of collecting 5 billion birr. 

It was also stated that more than 4 billion birr was registered in the capital from 54 new investment projects in the region. 

It was also stated that the activities carried out in the infrastructure, education and health sectors in the region in the first half of the fiscal year will continue to be strengthened. 

The Head of State also emphasized that the results recorded in all sectors in the region should be maintained and the gaps observed in the implementation process should be addressed. 

He also said that in addition to answering the questions of the people of the region for peace, development and good governance in an organized manner, it should become a culture to ensure the universal benefit of the people.
