The world’s largest electric ship has been unveiled

Incat, a Tasmanian-based company, has unveiled the world’s largest electric ship, the Hull 096, which is 130 meters long.

 

The Hull 096 is equipped with more than 250 tons of batteries and has a capacity of more than 40 megawatts of energy.

 

According to Incat, the ship’s energy storage system is connected to eight electric water jets, which are four times more powerful than any other electric ship in use.

 

Incat has delivered the Hull 096 to a South American shipping company, Bukubas, and the ship will sail between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Uruguay.

 

"We have been building world-class ships here in Tasmania for more than four decades, and 'Hall 096' is our most advanced and largest project yet," said Robert Clifford, chairman of Incat.

 

The ship is said to be fully battery-electric and will carry up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles on the Platte River, which borders Argentina and Uruguay.
