The African Business School Association, a group of private higher education institutions, is set to hold its annual conference in Ethiopia next year.
The conference is being held in partnership with the prestigious college of business schools in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia has been selected to host the 2018 annual conference, which will be held in Addis Ababa from May 12 to 14 next year.
This was announced in a statement issued by the African Business Schools Association in collaboration with the prestigious college.
More than 150 higher education institutions, directors and international academic leaders from across Africa and the world are expected to attend the conference.
The prestigious college is said to be the only member of the association from among Ethiopian higher education institutions.
The college’s application, which met the requirements two years ago, was accepted and Ethiopia was selected to host the 2026 annual conference, said Ato Tefera Gebeyehu, the Director of the Ethiopian Private Higher Education Institutions Association.
The African Business School Association is said to be organizing the conference in Ethiopia in May 2018 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Addis Ababa City Administration.
Such a conference will also facilitate knowledge transfer between Ethiopian and African/international institutions, create strategic partnerships in research, innovation, faculty development and entrepreneurship, Ato Tefera said. He also said that it is hoped that it will increase the benefits of conference tourism, including creating opportunities for Ethiopian businesses to work together with higher education institutions.
The college has been in the educational field for the past 20 years and has been operating as a college for the past 4 years.
In terms of improving the quality of education, one way to gain experience from high-quality higher education institutions in Africa is to become a member of the African Business School Association, said the college’s director, Ato Desalegn Mekuria, adding that the college has been affiliated with the association since its inception.
In line with this news, the college recently graduated 72 students who have completed their undergraduate and technical and vocational degrees.
The guest of honor on the day, Lana Elramli, Director of the African Business School Association, delivered a congratulatory message to the graduates.
Medals and trophies were also presented to the graduates who achieved the highest results on the day.
