The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has confirmed that its customers are 80 percent satisfied with the services it provides, according to a survey conducted by the bank.

The bank said this at the opening ceremony of its Customer Service Week, which it has started to conduct.

The CBE said it is working hard to address issues related to operational transparency, service quality fluctuations, service delays, network outages, system failures, departmental coordination, employee attitudes and work culture that were previously seen in its service delivery.

The Customer Service Week is mainly celebrated through awareness-raising and feedback-gathering discussions with customers, and social responsibility activities such as blood donation and tree care are also carried out, said Ato Ephraim Mekuria, the bank’s president’s representative.

Ephrem also noted that the bank raised more than 325 billion birr in additional deposits in the first half of the 2018 fiscal year alone, bringing its total deposits to 2 trillion birr. 

In addition to the loans previously provided to investors engaged in the agricultural sector, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has recently facilitated agricultural loans to smallholder and group-organized farmers and pastoralists, the official noted. 

The bank also expanded loans for small-scale construction and purchase of houses, personal business transactions, and purchase of cars, the bank said. 

It was also reported that CBE is offering a loan service called "CBE BeJ" that allows you to get a loan of 500 to 150 thousand birr without collateral using only the CBE Birr Plus application.

It was also mentioned that a digital wallet service called CBE Connect was recently launched that can be used by members of the diaspora.

A. Ephrem confirmed that the bank will continue to provide services that are focused on the needs of its customers in the future.
