#Ethiopia One of the most outstanding long-distance athletes is Mohamed Farah, a Somali-born British athlete.
After winning four Olympic and six World Championship gold medals, Farah turned his attention to marathons and road races. However, he could not repeat the success he showed in other competitions.
He has officially announced his retirement from athletics after finishing fourth in the 21km race at the Great North Rennes in Newcastle today.
Oregon's World Athletics Champion, Ethiopian athlete Tamrat Tola, the winner of the marathon, finished the half marathon alone with a time of 59:58; Belgian Bashir Abdi and Mukhtar Idris finished second and third.
Mo Farah, who finished fourth, was praised by World Athletics for being the highlight of the running world over the years.
After the heroic Ethiopian athletes Haile Gebreslase and Kenenisa Bekele, this wonderful athlete who appeared in long-distance races felt emotional that he would stop competing after this. "I have decided to stop doing it, but it is difficult for me to decide," he said.
Farah revealed that he has been struggling with injuries over the years and indicated that he wants to spend quality time with his family.
