International Bee Day to be celebrated in Jimma city tomorrow - Girma Amente (Dr.)

The second International Bee Day will be celebrated in Jimma tomorrow, said Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente (Dr.).

 

The Minister said that Ethiopia was chosen to celebrate the second World Bee Day due to the changes it has made in bee production.

 

He also said that the program will be a place where experiences and research papers will be presented and Ethiopia will learn from other countries. Field visits and consultations will also be held. 

 

It is expected that it will create a market by providing Ethiopian honey with its unique flavor.

 

The Minister said that he will continue to work hard to bring in foreign currency from the international market by modernizing the product and increasing its branding outside Ethiopia.

 

The United Nations has decided to celebrate May 20 as International Bee Day; The first Bee Day was celebrated in Slovenia last year. 

 

The minister said that the work to increase honey, poultry, egg and fish production has been achieved with the help of inputs and technology.
