Request by private investor to build multi-sectoral special economic zone approved

The Ethiopian Investment Board discussed and passed decisions on various agendas in its meeting held today. 

 

The board reviewed the ongoing work at the Ethiopian Investment Commission office today. It also discussed and passed decisions on various agendas. 

 

One of the agendas discussed and passed decisions was on the request submitted by a private investor to build a multi-sectoral special economic zone with a capital of over seventy-eight million US dollars. 

 

After extensive discussion on the request, the board decided to designate it as a multi-sectoral special economic zone and to allow the requestors to start work immediately. 

 

It also discussed and passed decisions on other issues presented to it, including the designation of the special economic zone, land allocation and use guidelines. 

 

The Ethiopian Investment Commission also announced that the board will continue its commitment to creating a favorable and attractive investment environment in the country and its support to the commission.
