The 3rd Division of Corruption Cases of the Federal High Court gave its verdict today.

Law No. 32 Sub-No. 1(a) and the provisions referred to under Article 32 Sub-No. 2 and Sub-No. 3 of Proclamation No. 881/2007 issued to regulate corruption crimes, and Sub-No. 382 of the Criminal Law of EFDR issued in 1996 In violation of the provision mentioned under 1, in the absence of any payment order from the African Union, it is mentioned that the first defendant submitted a false payment document of 6 million 50 thousand dollars, which requires payment to be made to the defendants in the 2nd to 5th ordinary number in different amounts of dollars, and all the defendants are charged with the crime of serious deception and corruption. It will be remembered.

 

In this way, only those mentioned in the case from 1st to 3rd ordinary number were brought to trial and the details of the case were sent to them.

 

The court has examined the objection points of the first level of the charge filed by the defendants from the 1st to the 3rd ordinary number and stated that they will be checked with evidence in the future and rejected their objections. 

 

After the defendants gave their confessions stating that they did not commit the criminal act mentioned in the charge, the prosecutor presented a total of 3 witnesses of African Union branch bankers and gave their testimony.

 

The court examined the statements of the witnesses and the documentary evidence heard by the prosecutor and gave a unanimous verdict for the defense in the first case.

 

Regarding the second charge, after it was stated in the first charge that it was an act of forgery, the court clarified that there are overlapping provisions which were interpreted by the trial court and could be punished together.

 

A rescheduled date has been set for November 16, 2017 to wait for the defendants to present their defense evidence.
