Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) announced that the Asella wind farm, which will generate 100 megawatts of electricity, is a reality.

"Ethiopia knows how to harness wind and convert it into energy," said Prime Minister Abiy (PhD). "The early adopters, Adama, Ashegoda and Aisha wind farms are living proof of this," he said.

"Our work will not stop until the country gets what it deserves in terms of energy; today, we have made the Asella wind farm a reality and made special arrangements to continue the other ones," he said.

What is known about the Asella wind farm?

- It has been under construction for five years.

- The power plant will generate one hundred megawatts of electricity.

- The wind farm is a joint project between the governments of Ethiopia and Denmark.

- The turbine tower is taller than previous wind farms; it is 84 meters tall. The generating capacity of each turbine is also different; 29 turbines generate 3.46 megawatts of power each. 

- The plant is equipped with the latest technology in wind power technology.

- The Asela wind farm was built by an Ethiopian contractor and commissioned by the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation.
