Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system called Mela - Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD)
******************************
The artificial intelligence (AI) sector is one of the sectors that Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has a big vision for.
Studies indicate that one of the sectors of artificial intelligence, generating AI, if properly used in Africa, could increase Africa’s GDP by 110 to 220 billion dollars by 2030.
According to the Prime Minister, unfortunately, Africa’s progress in all fields is lagging behind and regretting it.
“We are lagging behind at first, and regretting it later,” the Prime Minister said, adding that there is no part of the continent that has not been affected by this trend in the technology sector.
He said that Africans have a very weak culture of competing and following when something happens; he said that over-praising others and underestimating ourselves is another weakness.
He said that Ethiopia is currently building and working on an independent institution in the field, and that it is being integrated into the education system and is being offered at the PhD level at Addis Ababa University.
He also said that the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system called Mela.
The Prime Minister said that Mela AI is different from similar AI systems, and that it can be widely used in indigenous languages. He also pointed out that it can store a lot of information and organize it in depth.
He also mentioned the existence of a system called Pai; he said that the system has been able to eliminate the process of hiring a lot of human resources at the government level. The system is of great importance because it can organize information, said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
