It has been reported that only two institutions in Ethiopia were recognized for fully meeting quality standards in 2017.

The Ethiopian Quality Award Organization emphasizes that food and beverage-related products must meet stringent quality requirements.

According to Ato Teodros Berhat, the head of the Ethiopian Quality Award Organization, the key quality criteria include compliance with written guidelines and regulations, consistent management, efficient resource utilization, adequate provision of employee needs, and ensuring that products and services are delivered as planned. He shared these details in an exclusive interview with Bsrat Radio and Television.

It was revealed that in the annual competitions, no institution has been able to meet the set standards. During the ninth round of the recognition and evaluation process, not a single institution fulfilled the requirements.

It was noted that if a company receives no complaints from customers, it is considered to have partially met the criteria. Although the Ethiopian Quality Award Organization recognizes only one entity, the proliferation of institutions offering recognition awards at an individual level has become a significant obstacle to the organization's work.

Ato Teodros Berhat further explained that efforts are underway to investigate institutions that, despite not meeting the criteria, advertise and offer services as "award-winning" through privately organized recognition programs. He shared this update with Bsrat Radio and Television.
