Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said, "In order to ensure the security of us and future generations, we need to be creative and united to respond appropriately to the effects of climate change."

Prime Minister Abiy said this in his message at the Abu Dhabi International 'Sustainability Week' conference.

The Prime Minister, who participated in the Conference on Sustainable Economic Growth and Climate Change, shared Ethiopia's experience.

He pointed out that the Ethiopian government is working on a 10-year development plan aimed at sustaining economic growth by creating an industrial economy led by the private sector, competitive, resource intensive and impervious to climate change.

He also mentioned that Ethiopia's indigenous economic reform program, which prioritized pillars of economic growth such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism and ICT, is based on the principles of sustainable development.

He also stated that Ethiopia's inclusive prosperity agenda is based on creating a comfortable life for citizens, building resilience and laying a green foundation for future generations.

However, Prime Minister Abiy stated that Ethiopia is currently one of the developing countries that are vulnerable to climate change.

In this regard, he pointed out that Ethiopia has designed a long-term strategy to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050 and deal with climate change.

He also stated that Ethiopia has been able to plant 25 billion saplings by involving 25 million citizens in the last four years of the Green Footprint Program.
