According to the Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente (PhD), Ethiopia is a country blessed with geography, natural resources, and a favorable climate.

He recalled that there was severe deforestation in the past due to an economic model that did not focus on forests; he stated that Ethiopia is currently formulating and implementing a policy to correct this.

He stated that the Green Footprint Program, initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), is a tool for ensuring food security in fruit cultivation, in addition to increasing forest cover.

He also pointed out that it is a source of income beyond food consumption and has contributed significantly to job creation.

He said that 4.7 billion seedlings have been prepared for the 2017 Green Legacy Program so far.

He indicated that the government has paid special attention to nature conservation and green development more than ever before.

Director General of Ethiopian Forestry Kebede Yimam, for his part, noted that it is a resource that plays a significant role in the world economy; and pointed out that damage to forests sets back sustainable development.

He also assured that Ethiopian Forestry will continue to strengthen its role in leading the sector with knowledge and skills, EZA reported.

Mubarak Elias, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture of the House of People's Representatives, State Minister of Agriculture, Professor Iyasu Elias, as well as federal and regional officials were present at the program.

Mayor Kedir also said that one should respect family, overcome challenges with perseverance and love the country; he also advised not to be deceived by temporary things that hinder one's dreams.

Dire Dawa Youth Council President Ato Hamid Abdella said that today's forum is a learning platform designed to inspire the youth in our administration and to provide them with the opportunity to learn from successful people in their careers so that they can realize their dreams.

Ato Hamid added that the youth who participated in the training also registered 200 to 250 young people who were interested in the training digitally.
